Day 19
Today I didn't have anything really planned that I wanted to see. I just wanted to explore and eat gelato. I did the usually routine this morning. I had breakfast at the buffet, put my sunscreen on and brace to leave the air conditioned hotel room and go into the heat. The strangest thing happened this morning. I started to explore and all of a sudden one of my eyes started to water and I couldn't see out of it. I sat down in the shade in saint marco's square wishing this pain would go away and my sight would return but it didn't.
I made my way as quick as I could back to the hotel panicking. When I got back to my room I flushed my eye out with water and laid on the bed until I could see again. This was definitely not something that I wanted to deal with on my last day of being in Venice.
Photos never do it justice. But if your travelling solo, with friends or family or even in a couple the sunsets in Venice can't be missed.
My eye sight went back to normal and I ventured back out into the streets of Venice. Before I got back to saint marco square I took a right and ended up at these markets on the edge of the water.
I looked around the markets and sat by the water in the sun. Venice is a place that I have always wanted to go. Before I travelled to Venice I had a lot of people tell me different views on the place. People said it was dirty, smelt gross, crowded. But it was still somewhere I always wanted to see. When I got to Venice I still had all of those peoples comments in my head and I was wondering if I was actually going to like it or not. But I love Venice. It is by fair one of my favourite places that I have been. It's excaltly what it looks like in the movies. And it was so hot and the weather was so beautiful which made the water sparkle.
If Venice is on your bucket list of places to see I would highly recommend seeing it. I had lunch at this restaurant. I was going to say Italian restaurant but all of there restaurants are Italian :p. it was so packed. I wasn't sure why. I ended up finding out that tomorrow the Festa Del Redentore Festival is on which I will miss. I only found to out when I got here that this festival was on. If I knew before I would of loved to of stayed for it. The 3rd Saturday of July every year this festival takes place. This time each year the festival celebrates with a firework display and a carnival that the plague has ended.
Tip: before you travel into Venice go to goitaly.about.com website to check what events are coming up that you can experience while you are there.
After lunch I walked to a part of Venice which I hadn't been before and did some shopping. I ended up at this little cafe and got my chocolate meringue to go and ate it overlooking the water in the shade. I spent the rest of the afternoon exploring and being in love with Venice.
Venice has a lot of great restaurants that overlook the water and with outdoor dining. I went to this beautiful restaurant for dinner as the sun slowly began to set at around 9pm.
You know the term when in Rome... I thought since I was in Italy which is near Rome I would enjoy every minute of my last dinner in Venice. Starting with dinner...
The waiters are all so nice. I get why they do it. If they are nice and flirt with you they are expecting a bigger tip. This waiter convinced me that the chocolate mousse was a must have for dessert. Not that I needed much convincing for that.
As the sun started disappear I walked to the bridge with the lockets on it to watch the sunset. Being honest I loved ths sunset it was so beautiful but at this moment I did wish I had someone. .
People were kissing and hugging and taking photos. And this guy on a gut air was serenading couples. It was beyond amazing

Tomorrow I'm off to Rome.
