Rome Day Twenty-three

Day 23

Last day in Rome today. I love Italy, the history, the ruins, the food and the people. Italy is such a wonderful place to visit and I would love to see more of Italy one day. I checked the weather when I had the chance to log onto wifi this morning. It's predicting storms all day. I wanted a chance to explore and raining all day will make that hard. I walked down by the Trevi fountain and did a bit of shopping until lunch time.

About 12pm it started to bucket down and the thunder started to roar. I found a little restaurant that does gluten free pizza. Pizza was the one thing I hadn't had since being in Italy. YAH. I decided that I would take refuge in this restraurant instead of bracing the stormy weather.

Yumi spent about an hour wining, dining and playing on the free wifi until the storm past and I ventured back out onto the street. The hour also gave me a bit of time to research what else I would like to see in Rome. I decided I would Pantheon and the Piazza Navona.

On my way to the Pantheon I got side tracked and I found the cat sanctuary. I loved it. It is this little place in the middle of the street where this charity looks after the stary cats who dwell in Rome. The feed them, make sure they are up to date with their shots and keep a roof over their head.  These cats live in these ruins.

I went to get a better look from another side and these two cats came up to me for cuddles.

It made me so thankful for this charity and what they do. I walked down to there shop and got to see lot more of the cats they look after. They also had trinkets that you could buy and the profits go to the cats. So I brought a necklace.

I walked and visited the piazza Navona. It is a huge square surrounded by shops and restaurants. In the middle of the square it has three fountains.

These fountains were really impressive and not under construction. I went and got a gelato and admired them for awhile.

I then started to walk back to the pantheon which is free to go inside of it.

Inside is so big and impressive. I love how there is so many ruins in Rome even though that was years ago.

By this time it was starting to get dark and the thunder was starting to rumble so I decided to head back to the hotel and have a shower before heading out to dinner.

I went out for dinner and took my book with me. This is my last dinner in Rome until I head to Athens tomorrow and I want to enjoy it. I ordered many glasses of wine and had pasta and fresh fruit for dessert. It was a wonderful way to end my few days in Rome.

After a few hours of dining, drinking and relaxing, I started to head back to my hotel. This fountain below is so beautiful at night. I'm so thankful that I got to see it all lite up.

Rome... Not just Rome but Italy as well is so fantastic to visit. I would go again and again. I highly reccomend it.
