This morning I woke up with the flu. Just what you want when you are travelling. I went down to and had my last breakfast in the hotel. Today I was going to Rome. I was so excited. My flight was at 3pm so the transfer company didnt pick me up until 12pm.
Tip for travelers who get travel sickness: Iam one of those travelers who get motion sickness. I HATE going on large buses or any vehicle where I cant see the road. Alot of people do not realise that you can get a private transfer for about the same price as you can get a transfer on the coach to and from the air port.
Hotel room in Paris
As you will know by now my views on Paris. Its a bit of a dodgy city. My friend who has just arrived in Paris posted online that she was robbed last night. They broke into her bag and stole her laptop, make up, passport, tickets and other items. She was staying in a hostel.
Tip: When staying in Paris its better to pay a little bit more money and stay some where a bit nicer. When ever you leave your room take your valuables with you. You do not have to take everything that is in your suitcase just things you would be screwed if got stolen. Eg. like your passport, tickets and money.
Before I left for my trip I brought a suitcase with a lock on it. This suitcase has a pin code to open it. I never left my suitcase open when I left the hotel room i always had it locked. Because you never know what is going to happen when you leave the room. You dont want to tempt thefts.
Tip: Keep your bag locked when you leave your hotel room for the day and take any valuables with you.
When my transfer car picked me up it took roughly 30mins to drive to the airport. I checked in and got something to eat. The air port is VERY small and has one small cafe.
Airport Paris
I had a flight with a airplane company called Vueling Airlines. When I got on the plane I could not believe how there was absolutely no room in front of your knees to the seat in front of you. It was ridiculous. Although it was only a short flight, I couldnt WAIT to get off of it. It took roughly an hour and a half to get to Rome by plane.
Tip: If your not a big train or bus person domestic flights in Europe are quite cheap. I got this flight for $60.00 Australian.
When I got into Rome it was 5pm their time and it was pitch black. I ended up getting my luggage and finding my transfer car quite easily. My transfer driver couldnt really speak alot of English either. He tried. But I didnt understand what he was saying.
We drove into Rome which roughly took about 30mins until we got to my hotel. He dropped me off and I walked into the reception. And the lady at the reception desk told me that there had been a black out on the floor they had me booked into and that they were going to send me to their sister hotel. They ordered a taxi for me and drove me over to their sister hotel which was a few streets away. I wasnt very impressed with his as I had studied the map of where everything was around it.
But in saying that when I got to the hotel I was very impressed. It was so modern and right out the front of where my hop on hop off bus tour left in the morning.
This hotel had a panel on the wall that you could choose the colour of your light in your room. It was called paint your dreams. You could choose, blue, red, green or white.
I went down to the hotel to have dinner to see if I would meet any cool people. I was the ONLY ONE in the restaurant.
Hotel restaurant
The food wasn't overly impressive. The chicken was charcoal.
Tip: If you are concerned for your safety check with your travel agent and make sure you arrive in the day time. You will be able to get your barrings better than you would if you arrive at night.
