Europe Rome Day Fourteen

Day Fourteen

So sad. Today was my last day in Rome. Rome is so magical and it makes you I never wanted to leave. It sucks you in with the the history, the great food, wine and the shopping. And then it send you home. I could quite happily live in Rome although I would be so fat but happy with a great wardrobe.

Today was SOOOO COLD. It was the coldest it had been the entire trip.  I decided to get another hop on hop off bus and do a loop of the city. I got off at the last stop. The spanish steps. Well... I would have if I could of found them. I asked some shop owners who didnt speak much english and a police man who pointed me in the right direction.

I ended up walking roughly 10mins and found my self at the top of the steps. I walked down the steps to take some photos. Yes they are beautiful but they are really just only steps. I was walking down the steps and I had some men trying to give me roses. I knew it was a trick so I just shock my head.

Tip: People will try and scam money off you any way that they can. They will give you a flower than tell you that you have to pay them for it. In some extreme cases I heard that people have thrown their children at people and when you catch them they will snatch your bag.

I go to the bottom of the Spanish steps and started snapping away. And I had to guys approach me trying to chat me up in English. I shook my head like I had no idea what they were talking about. Than they went away. I continued on my photo mission and they came back and asked if I spoke English because I bumped into this guy and said sorry in English. I turned around to them and said "NO" in English. And that was the end of my happy snapping as I walked away back up the stairs.

I started looking at some where to have lunch and I found this cute place just up from the spanish steps. I was looking at the menu out side of the shop when the owner came out and started to talk to me. I asked if they had gluten free pasta he said yes. Then I asked if they had a toilet and he said yes. The fact they had a toilet made me so happy. The toilet was through the kitchen towards the back of the restaurant and down the stairs. Little bit scary so I made it quick.

The meal was fantastic. It seamed that every meal I had was better than the last. As it was my last day in Rome I did some shopping and as it started to get dark I started to head back to the hotel. The one great thing about travelling is ROOM SERVICE. I ended up having dinner off the room service menu and ordering  some gelato for dessert. YUMMM. Since I didnt have wifi access I went and used the computer in the foyer to book my seats on the flight for the next day.

Tip: You may need to confirm your transfer to the airport a day in advance. So you dont have to make the phone call you can ask the reception staff to do it for you.
